Ladies Golf Results. 17.11.24
It’s been an exciting week with end of year events taking place, our ladies have taken it all in their stride, shining like the stars that we are!

2024 Harry’s Shootout:  Wednesday 13 November presented a beautiful day for 14 ladies playing only 13 holes of golf. Thankfully a player dropped off on every hole without the need for a regular chip or putt off. This only happened on the 6th hole, which is remarkable for a nett based competition. Some amazing golf was played throughout the day providing our onlookers and supporters with great viewing.
The final 13th hole saw Rose Gough and Jennie Brown playing it out. Congratulations to Rose this years winner and Jennie the Runner Up. Third place was Jill Wilson, fourth Leanne McGregor and fifth Sheryll Gordon. The photo below shows our ladies holding their Harry’s gift vouchers and Shootout prize money. A HUGE THANK YOU to Harry’s for your continued sponsorship and support this season. We certainly appreciate your business.

Ladies Golf Results. 11th Nov
A combination of perfect weather and course conditions made way for good golfing in our final weekly scramble for the season. Results Saturday 2 and Wednesday 6 November:  9 Hole Nett Scramble:  Jeannette Wright 38, Pam Malcolm 39 c/b. Well done Jeannette winning the Par 3’s with 9 points. 18 Hole Nett Scramble:  Jennie Brown 69, Jan Aarts 71, Kim Goodman 73, Jo Trusler 74, Karen Semmens 75. Jennie also won the Par 3’s with 16 points. Great golfing everyone.

Patron’s Competition:  Congratulations to our 2024 Fourball Matchplay winners Rose Gough and Betty Soanes. They made an unbeatable golfing partnership throughout the entire competition. Runners Up were:  Leanne McGregor and Viv Gunn. Thank you to all the ladies who entered, it’s an enjoyable format of golf to play at the end of the season.

3 Putt Golf Mystery Trip:  Saturday 9 November our 3 Putt members headed south to play 9 holes at the unique and picturesque Rotorua Golf Club (Arikikapakapa). Lots of Christmas treats were had by all throughout the day. We cart shared to play golf; this proved frustrating at times as they were preprogrammed to only reverse when you drove it anywhere near tee blocks, fringes and natural reserves (which we usually call penalty areas!)

After the entertaining golf, we wined and dined in their amazing historical clubhouse. Everyone came home with a variety of prizes and new golfing experiences to remember. A big thank you to our organizers Jill and Claire for the fab day they presented. Roll on 2025!

Women’s Winter Interclub.

Thank you to everyone involved for helping our newly formed Interclub Day held Friday 26 July to be such a success. The feedback has been very positive. Morrinsville ladies hosted the day doing what they do best! Clubs participating were Te Awamutu, Cambridge, Walton and Morrinsville. Players competed for “The Winter Cup” to be awarded to the club with the highest average stableford points.

Heavy fog blanketed the 40 players for most of their round which contributed to challenging golfing conditions. The scoring for the day was considered low overall, the PCC – Players Conditions Calculation was rated a 3, the hardest possible! Our home team however endured these conditions superbly and won.

Congratulations to Morrinsville ladies for doing the mahi and winning the cup with 27.0 points. Cambridge were 2nd with 25.07, 3rd Te Awamutu  22.85 and 4th Walton 21.57. We look forward to next years event being held at Te Awamutu Golf Club.

Saturday Rosebowl Final:  Compliments to both players who displayed exceptional golf throughout their match together. Congratulations to Jo Trusler for winning the Rosebowl and Moira Keyte the Runner Up.

Memorable hole-in-one’s

Moira Keyte’s Hole In One.
Congratulations to Moira Keyte one of our new members. Moira was playing in the Te Aroha Golf Club Anzac Day tournament on Thursday 25 April when she scored her first Hole In One. She played an 8 iron on No. 15, 108m hole. The ball landed on the green and made it’s way in easily! This was a special day for Moira as a memorial plaque is placed by this hole in memory of her Uncle, who passed away a few years ago.

Jennie Brown’s Birthday Hole In One.
Congratulations to Jennie achieving a golfers ultimate dream; a Hole In One on her birthday Monday13 May at Te Awamutu Golf Club. Jennie was representing our club playing in the Weekday Pennant team. She scored an ace on the Par 3, 139 m, No. 11 hole.  She selected a 5 wood to play the shot as the course conditions were wet that morning. The ball initially bounced short of the green and then ran directly into the hole. Jennie said it was the best birthday present ever!!
