DOUBLE VICTORY FOR NORTH ZONE LADY GOLFERS
The 2023 golfing season has seen the Waiterimu and Morrinsville combined ladies team play consistently good golf to claim a double victory in the Waikato Golf Association annual Wills Cup competition. The Waikato Association is divided into four zones. North, South, East and West which all comprise a number of representative golf clubs. These four zones play a round robin match play golf competition beginning in March and finishing in June. The winners and runner ups of the round robin competition go through to the Waikato Association Finals Day to compete for the prestigious Wills Cup and The Jug in these two divisions. These trophies have been competed for since 1983.
This year the Waiterimu and Morrinsville team had the most Wills Cup points in the North Zone round robin competition to win The Storey Tray. Victory Number One!  Our neighbouring club Tahuna also did very well, being Runners Up. The two clubs went forward to represent North Zone at The Finals day hosted by Ngaruawahia Golf Club on Friday 4 August.
Ngaruawahia Golf Club turned on perfect weather and course conditions for the days golfing. Waiterimu and Morrinsville combined team did their best playing consistent golf to achieve an overall win by 5 points to claim Victory Number Two, The Wills Cup. Tahuna ladies played equally well claiming The Jug in their section. This is the first time in the history of the competition that North Zone has claimed double victory! Congratulations to these North Zone lady golfers and thank you to our many supporters throughout the season. This day will be one to remember and go down in the history books.

This is Jo’s fourth “Hole in One”, three of them being on our Morrinsville course. Jo is truly amazing, we are very fortunate to have her playing in our club.
